Project Narrative

As a national institution, CNB must balance multiple roles: a cultural archive, a high-frequency box office, and an educational hub. The challenge was to create a site that feels as fluid and athletic as a dancer while maintaining the administrative clarity required for ticket sales, school tours, and professional announcements.

The Solution

A comprehensive web platform built on a "living archive" philosophy, featuring:

  • Integrated Box Office: A streamlined ticketing flow linked directly to the Teatro Camões and external venues, featuring seating maps and real-time availability.

  • The "Digital Archive": An extensive database of past productions (repertoire) and artistic staff, allowing researchers and fans to explore the company’s history through high-resolution photography and video.

  • Education Portal: A dedicated private area for schools and educational institutions to book "Aproximação à Dança" (Introduction to Dance) sessions and access pedagogical materials.

  • Dynamic Programming: A seasonally driven interface that adjusts its visual focus based on current tours, premieres, and the company's "Playlists" (curated digital content).

Design Strategy

The design reflects the "dynamic balance" of the CNB brand identity. It uses generous white space and a minimalist grid to let the movement in the photography take center stage. The typography is clean and institutional, ensuring that complex schedules and technical FAQs (such as dress codes and late arrival policies) remain highly legible.

Results

The site serves as a central pillar for the company’s "democratization of dance" mission. By centralizing international tour schedules, educational bookings, and digital archives, CNB has increased its accessibility to a global audience while maintaining the local prestige of its home at Teatro Camões.
