Festival DDD

Project Narrative
Festival DDD is a tri-municipal event with a massive geographic footprint. The digital challenge is to unify programming across three distinct cities while catering to two very different audiences: the general public looking for performances and international art "programmers" (curators) looking to scout and book new talent.
The Solution
A dual-purpose platform that serves as both a public guide and a professional marketplace:
Reserved Area for Professionals: A unique B2B (Business-to-Business) feature that allows international programmers to register, access technical riders, and manage ticket reservations for professional scouting.
"On Stage / At Home" Hybridity: Developed during the pandemic and maintained as a core feature, the site acts as a "Virtual Stage" where certain performances, masterclasses, and documentaries are streamed globally alongside the physical event.
Wandering Map: A specialized navigation tool for the "Corpo + Cidade" (Body + City) project, which uses GPS to help users find non-traditional, site-specific dance interventions in public squares and industrial heritage sites.
Artistic Archive: A deep-link database that connects current performances with past works and artist residencies, providing a "living history" of contemporary dance in Portugal.
Design Strategy
The visual identity is kinetic and high-contrast, often using "brutalist" design elements that reflect the industrial and riverine heritage of the Douro region. The interface is optimized for "interruption-free" browsing—ensuring that the flow between the schedule and ticket booking is as fluid as the movement on stage.
Results
The digital platform has been instrumental in achieving a 90% occupancy rate across venues. By providing a dedicated professional portal, it has turned Porto into a global hub for dance, attracting programmers from over 16 countries who use the site to export Portuguese artistic creations to international stages.
