São João Braga

São João Braga

Project Narrative

Braga’s São João is a massive logistical undertaking featuring over 200 hours of programming, ranging from religious novenas to the "Gigantones" parades and modern concerts. The primary difficulty is ensuring that traditional "Minho" authenticity isn't lost in the chaos of a million people, and that attendees can find specific ritual moments (like the Dance of King David) among the modern street parties.

The Solution

the app serves as a real time navigation and scheduling hub that bridges the gap between folklore and digital convenience:

  • Integrated "Sanjoanino" Program: A comprehensive digital calendar that allows users to filter between religious ceremonies, ethnographic parades, and the "São João Pop’ular" concerts.

  • Interactive Event Map: Pinpoints the exact locations of the "Cascatas" (Saint John altars), traditional food stalls, and the best vantage points for the grand fireworks display at Parque da Ponte.

  • Real Time Alerts: Push notifications for the most emblematic moments, such as the "Rodopiada de Gigantones" or the official opening at the Praça do Município, ensuring users don't miss key traditions.
